Saint Martin de Porres (1639 AD); Saint Malachy O’More (1148 AD): Blessed Ida of Toggenburg (1226 AD);
Saint Carlo Borromeo (1548 AD); Saint Vitalis & Saint Agricola (3rd Century AD)
This article is dedicated to Saint Hildegarde von Bingen – ‘The God’s Chosen Cosmologist’ among other titles.
In these two articles I will explain from my perspective the Cosmology represented by Saint Hildegarde von Bingen, a great XI-XII Century Persona.
She received from God, in Her visions, the detailed description of the structure of the Universe and the forces inside it. What is most interesting is that the information agrees with transcendental mathematics at least in some decisive part if not in whole.
I will present here one of her visions: first, 'The Cosmic Spheres and Human Being.’ This is Saint’s diagram. The drawing shows the five or six elements of the Universe, depending on whether the text is taken from her ‘Book of Divine Works’ or from ‘Scivias’ that was published years earlier.
First, we have the description of the diagram by Saint.
The quotations of Saint Hildegarde von Bingen are taken from the book ‘St. Hildegard of Bingen – the Book of Divine Works’ translated by Nathaniel M. Campbell and published by Catholic University of America Press in 2018.
‘Then, upon the breast of the aforementioned image that I had seen in the middle of the southern sky, as described above, there appeared a wheel, wonderful to see, together with its signs and symbols. This wheel was nearly like that instrument that I had seen twenty-eight years before, signified in the shape of an egg, as shown in the third vision of the book Scivias.’
/Here are the details – first – the Universe has a shape of an egg, i.e., an ellipsoid, it is not flat, and here is the description of the constituencies of the structure of the Universe/:
‘Along its outermost circumference there was shown a circle in the likeness of the bright fire, and beneath this circle there was as if another circle, of black fire; and the circle of bright fire was twice as thick as the circle of black fire. And these two circles were joined to each other as if they were a single circle.’
/Comments – these two joined circles appear to be an entropy or energy in the present knowledge /
‘Beneath the circle of black fire, moreover, there was another circle, in the likeness of pure ether, which was everywhere of the same thickness as the previous two circles of fire.’
/Comments – this obviously symbolizes the space-time./
‘Furthermore, beneath the circle of pure ether, there was shown another circle of watery air, and its round thickness was as great as the thickness of the circle of black fire. And beneath that circle of watery air there was shown another circle as of strong, bright white air, which in its firmness was like the muscles in the human body; and it appeared everywhere in its circumference to be of the same thickness as the circle of black fire. These two circles were also joined together, so that they appeared as if they were a single circle.’
/Comments – it seems that these two circles are the strong force elements (three of them, one central and two symmetrically on the side)/
‘And beneath this circle of strong, bright with air, there was marked out as if another – a thin air that appear to carry upon it clouds that were sometimes lofty and bright, and sometimes low-hanging and shadowy; and it seemed to pervade the entire wheel mentioned above.’
/Comments – this may be matter or mass./
‘But all six of these circles were joined seamlessly together, the one to the other. Furthermore, the outermost circle flooded the other circles with its fire, and the watery circle watered all the others with its moisture.’
/ Comment ~ ‘The Book of Divine Works’ describes six elements of the Universe. However, the other work by Saint Hildegard, ‘Scivias’, published earlier, describes four elements. Now, Lord God does not make mistakes. There is a reason for the discrepancy. From the diagram with forces of the Universe, I will show that there are additional, secondary and ‘hidden’ elements of the structure, bringing the total number of elements from four main ones to six, including two secondary elements.
Quotes from ‘Scivias’ about the structure of the Universe.
Vision Three ~ The Universe and Its Symbolism
‘After this I saw a vast instrument, round and shadowed, in the shape of an egg, small at the top, large in the middle and narrowed at the bottom; outside it, surrounding its circumference, there was bright fire with, as it were, a shadowy zone under it. And in that fire there was a globe of sparkling flame so great that the whole instrument was illuminated by it, over which three little torches were arranged in such a way that by their fire they held up the globe lest it fall…But from the fire that surrounded the instrument issued a blast with whirlwinds, and from the zone beneath it rushed forth another blast with its own whirlwinds, which diffused themselves hither and thither throughout the instrument. In that zone, too, there was a dark fire of such a great horror that I could not look at it, whose force shook the whole zone, full of thunder, tempest and exceedingly sharp stones both large and small.’
/Comment – obviously, the shape of the Universe is ‘an egg’, i.e., an ellipsoid, spinning very fast along the axis. The astrophysicists, for the reason of simplified mathematics, I think prefer the Universe to be flat. So, we have the first two elements described – ‘bright fire and dark, shadowy fire'.
/ Comment ~ Now, the third element -ether/
‘But beneath that zone was purest ether, with no zone beneath it, and in it I saw a globe of white fire and great magnitude over which two little torches were placed, holding the globe so that it would not exceed the measure of its course. And in that ether were scattered many bright spheres, into which the white globe from time to time poured itself out and emitted its brightness, and then moved back under the globe of red fire and renewed its flames from it, and then again sent them out into those spheres. And from that ether too a blast came forth with its whirlwinds, which spread itself everywhere throughout the instrument.’
/ Comment ~ This is the third element – the ether.
/ Comment ~ Now, the fourth main element of the Universe, ‘the watery air’/
‘And beneath that ether I saw watery air with a white zone beneath it, which diffused itself here and there and imparted moisture to the whole instrument. And when it suddenly contracted it sent forth sudden rain with great noise, and when it gently spread out it gave a pleasant and softly falling rain. But from it too came a blast with its whirlwinds, which spread itself throughout the aforementioned instrument.’
/ Comment ~ This is the fourth main element of the Universe./
/Comment – Now, the description of the Earth/
‘And in the midst of these elements was a sandy globe of great magnitude, which these elements had so surrounded that it could not waver in any direction. But as these elements and these blasts contended with each other, by their strength they made it move a little.’
Now, the explanation by God of what all those descriptions mean.
‘And again I heard the voice from Heaven, saying to me:
1 ~ The visible and temporal is a manifestation of the invisible and eternal.
2 ~ The firmament in the likeness of an egg and what it signifies.
For this vast instrument, round and shadowy, in the shape of an egg, small at the top, large in the middle and narrowed at the bottom, faithfully shows Omnipotent God, incomprehensible in His majesty and inestimable in His mysteries and the hope of the faithful; for humanity at first was rude and rough and simple in its actions, but later was enlarged through Old and New Testaments, and finally at the end of the world is destined to be beset with many tribulations.
3 ~ On the bright fire and shadowy zone
Outside it, surrounding its circumference, there is a bright fire with, as it were a shadowy zone under it.
4 ~ On the placement of the Sun and the three stars
And in that fire there is a globe of sparkling flame, so great that that the whole instrument is illuminated by it, which in the splendor of its brightness shows that within God the Father in His ineffable Only-Begotten, the sun of justice with the brilliance of burning charity, of such great glory that every creature is illuminated by the brightness of His light.
10 ~ On the dark fire and the thunder and the sharp stones
In this zone also there is a dark fire of such horror that you cannot look at it. This means that the ancient betrayer’s most evil and most vile snares vomit forth blackest murder with such great passion that the human intellect cannot fathom its insanity; whose force shakes the whole zone, because murder includes in its horror all diabolical malignities. In the first man born hatred boiled up out of anger and led to fratricide, full of thunder, tempest and exceedingly sharp stones large and small, for murder is full of avarice, and drunkenness and extreme hardness of heart…
11 ~ The purest ether and the placement of the moon and two stars.
But beneath that zone is purest ether, with no zone beneath it; for beneath the snares of the ancient betrayer shines most serene faith, with no uncertainty or infidelity hiding in it, since it is not founded by itself but dependent on Christ, and in it you see the globe of white fire and great magnitude, which is a true symbol of the unconquered Church…
14 ~ The watery air and the white zone and what they signify
And beneath that ether you see watery air with a white zone beneath it, which diffuses itself here and there and imparts moisture to the whole instrument; for thus, under the faith possessed by the ancient and the modern fathers, baptism in the Church for the salvation of believers is truly shown to you, which, founded on blessed innocence and stability, propagates itself everywhere by divine inspiration and brings to the whole world the overflowing waters of salvation for believers.
16 ~ On the sandy globe of the Earth and what it signifies
And in the middle of these elements is a sandy globe of great magnitude, which these elements have so surrounded that it cannot waver in any direction. This openly shows that, all the strength of God’s Creation, Man’s is the most profound, made in a wondrous way with great glory from the dust of the earth and so entangled with the strengths of the rest of creation that he can never be separated from them; for the elements of the world, created for Man’s service, wait on him, and Man, as it were in their midst, by divine disposition presides over them…
18 ~ On the movement of the Earth and what it signifies
But, as you see, as these elements and these blasts contend with each other, by their strength they make the globe move a little; for at certain times the report of the Creator’s miracles comes to all of God’s creation, so that miracle is piled on miracle in a great thunder of words; and then Man, struck by the greatness of these miracles, feels the impact on his mind and body, and in the wondrous deeds considers with astonishment his own weakness and frailty.’
/ Comment ~ As can be clearly seen, there are four main elements (and forces, which Saint Hildegard calls ‘winds’) in the Universe according to ‘Scivias’, published 28 years before ‘The Book Of Divine Works.’ It agrees perfectly with the present view of the structure of the Universe. However, there is a higher level of intricate knowledge present in the second work of Saint Hildegard, 'The Book Of Divine Works.’ According to this, the Universe consists of six elements (four main ones and two secondary) and eight forces (four main ones and four secondary). I will explain all that in the following articles with my diagrams and transcendental mathematics, cosmology and quantum mechanics which are absolutely necessary for that.
In the diagram below, made by the saint or according to her instructions by someone else, you can see these six concentric circles representing six elements, and the connecting lines between forces (eight of them) showing internal structure and relations between them. In the center of the Universe is the Earth (‘sandy globe.’) Yes, the Universe has a center according to the Creator, The Most Holy Trinity and the receiver of His revelations, Great Saint Hildegarde von Bingen./
